UAE Air Law Practice Exam

In the context of airspace classification, airspace above FL600 (Flight Level 600, which is approximately 60,000 feet) in the UAE is classified as Class G airspace.

Class G airspace is considered uncontrolled airspace, where aircraft operate without the requirement for air traffic control clearance. This classification allows for more flexibility for aircraft, particularly those operating at higher altitudes where the density of air traffic is typically lower, as is the case above FL600.

In contrast, classifications such as Class A, C, and D involve varying degrees of air traffic control services and requirements for pilot qualifications, which do not apply in the same way above FL600 in the UAE. Therefore, recognizing the characteristics and regulatory framework governing Class G airspace is essential for understanding why it is classified as such in this specific altitude range.
